Blessed Epiphany! Welcome to the February 2012 issue of Discovery, the newsletter of Messiah Lutheran Church. We email a "cover page" to any members, friends or interested people, with links to this and other pages. If you would like to receive electronically the newsletter and Midweek UPdates, please send your email address to messiahnfm@yahoo.com or call it in to the office at 995-0133. The Discovery is also available in a printable format in its entirety (click here to print the whole newsletter). If you do not have Adobe Reader on your computer, you may download it for free at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html). Print copies are available at the church for those households who do not have any computer access. If you would like the newsletter mailed to you, just call the church office and let us know; we ask a $10 donation to cover the costs. Across the top of this and every page are links to different articles in the newsletter; to the left are links to a variety of specific information pages. February is the shortest month and will fly by even faster than January did, even with its extra day this year! There are a number of interesting things going on that you can read about. On Feb. 5 at 9:30 AM join Debbie Wolf for her presentation "Blessing Counting Can Change Your Life, or how I went from being a timid to bold one day last summer." Deb writes nine posts a week for various web-sites as well as for Woman’s Day magazine, and is a published author of the children’s book “Sarah’s Garden”. Listen as she shares her love for and joy in the Lord. Then on Feb. 11 at the 5 PM service tap your toes to the sounds of Bobby Shea and his band at the Bluegrass Service in the Exploring Worship Series. Feb. 22 is Ash Wednesday (already!) and we will have joint services at All Souls Episcopal Church at 12 noon and 7 PM. They joined us for the Thanksgiving Eve service last November, and will join us again for the Easter Vigil service in April. Plan to attend and worship with our sisters and brothers in Christ. On Feb. 26 at 3 PM Elaine Alexander will share her pictures and thoughts on the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and that will be followed by a pot luck dinner. Watch for a sign-up sheet at church. Read more about these and other events on Pastor Rusty's page. Be sure to check out the Health Ministry page, where Parish Nurse PJ May writes each month about a variety of topics. The Health Calendar has detailed information on health events. The newly revised constitution, incorporating the changes that were approved last year by the congregation, is now available in the front office. Look for copies by the mailboxes. If you have questions or information for the office, please call the church phone (239-995-0133) or send email at messiahnfm@yahoo.com. Kid's Connection Daycare can be reached at 239-656-3536. Please visit our website often for up-to-date information and articles.
