Easter greetings in the name of our risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
Welcome to the May 2013 issue of Discovery, the newsletter of Messiah Lutheran Church. We email a "cover page" to any members, friends or interested people, with links to this and other pages. If you would like to receive electronically the newsletter and Midweek UPdates, please send your email address to messiahnfm@yahoo.com or call it in to the office at 995-0133. The Discovery is also available in a printable format in its entirety (click here to print the whole newsletter). If you do not have Adobe Reader on your computer, you may download it for free at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html). Print copies are available at the church for those households who do not have any computer access. If you would like the newsletter mailed to you, just call the church office and let us know; we ask a $10 donation to cover the costs. Across the top of this and every page are links to different articles in the newsletter; to the left are links to a variety of specific information pages. Wow, you can certainly tell it's after Easter! So many of our seasonal residents have gone back north (I think of HERE as home, and I hope they do as well!) for the summer that it's almost quiet at the church. We will start the summer Sunday schedule the first weekend in May, when there will be only one Sunday service, at 9:30 AM. We will use the same service for Saturday and Sunday as in the past. But that's not to say nothing is happening! The Christian Education department is busy on two fronts: Chris Seeke and John Renfroe are busily planning the Clown Ministry Tour, and the youth are practicing every week for all the presentations they will do around the state. For the younger children, Kathy Johnson and her group of courageous volunteers are preparing for Vacation Bible School in July. The theme is "Kingdom Rock" and it takes a lot of time and energy to prepare for and present that week of Bible learning and fun. If you would like to volunteer with either of these, please call John at the church office (995-0133). We don't overlook the "older kids" either. Men in Mission leader Warren Gee is inviting veterans and reservists to attend breakfast at the IHOP on May 15th at 8:30 am. There's never a shortage of coffee or conversation! Sign up in the church hall so he can get a head count. The Prayer Shawl ladies keep knitting and crocheting all summer long and anyone is invited to join them. Or you can come quilt if you prefer! Even if you don't know how, there are people who will teach you, or you can be happy cutting squares! So jump in and read all about it in the Discovery. Just click on the links across the top of the page and to the left to get detailed information about what's been happening and what WILL be happening, and check back frequently for Midweek UPdates. Remember, if you have questions or information for the office, please call the church phone (239-995-0133) or send email at messiahnfm@yahoo.com. (Kid's Connection Daycare can be reached at 239-656-3536.) Please visit our website often for up-to-date information and articles. |
