Messiah Lutheran Church Women I wrote this in January but it was too late for Discovery. However, the sentiments still apply. It is January 2012 Happy New Year to everyone. This new year will bring many opportunities to share the message of joy, peace and everlasting life for all who believe. Come and join in our Messiah Mission of these planned events. It is now February and many more planned events. The ladies Bible study will be on Tuesday, February 14 at 1:00 pm. in the Family Center. We will be discussing Mark chapter 10 and answering questions like “What must I do?” The study is from the Lutheran Women’s magazine “Gathering”. If you do not have one, we will provide a copy. Come and bring a friend. Quilt tying will be Thursday, February 16 at 9:00 AM in the Family Center. There are also quilt patch kits ready to sew in the church hallway. If you have a sewing machine and a little time to sew straight lines, call Shirley Egleston 543-7004 for more details. We have received a generous donation that will help us make baby quilts for Lifeline and we are started on that project. We certainly can use and welcome any new member to join in this gratifying activity. The prayer shawl group will meet on Monday, February 27 at 1:00 in the Family Center. We will have yarn and prayers to share. Bring your hooks or needles and join us in knitting and crocheting prayer shawls. The MLCW Board is planning the annual general meeting for February. We felt the salad lunch of October went so well that we are planning the same kind of salad lunch. MLCW will provide the salad greens and dressings, drinks and dessert. You need to bring a friend, and sign up for your contribution to the salad bowl. The sign-up sheet will have the items we expect to be added to our greens. We are in need of someone to help coordinate Lent Soup and also to make the delicious soups. Look for the sign up in the Family Center. Call Shirley Egleston 543-7004 if you can help with this wonderful Messiah tradition. |

Nativity Diorama What a joyous production we had this year! It seems so long ago and yet the images of the nights are still so clear in my memory -- the smiling and laughter of the cast; the looks on the faces in the cars; people with their children getting out of cars to look at the stable baby; even the dog’s in the cars gave us their attention. We made the wonderful story of Jesus birth a memorable event for the people of our larger community. The set-up and getting ready was so easy; the kitchen worked well and provided two delicious meals for us; our costumes were beautiful; the sets stayed in place; the weather was perfect; and the take-down afterwards was well done. How can we thank all of you who were involved with words? I hope you were blessed as I was with your participation. Four hundred twenty seven vehicles came through so we can guess that 1500 people came to our diorama. Thanks to their generosity and the donations of some of our congregation the contribution was $2,193.99. We were able to pay the bills and have $1,188.66 to be given back to the community. Praise the Lord for Messiah disciples. |
