Announcements for  November 8-9, 2008

25th Sunday after Pentecost

Shoes and Socks for Homeless Men: We are collecting new and gently used men's sneakers (size 10 and up) and new socks for the homeless program of Community Cooperative Ministries Incorporated (CCMI ).  Mr. Fred Schilffarth, Director of Homeless services for CCMI, has indicated a great need for shoes and socks for men especially in these difficult days.  Please bring shoes and socks to church the weekends of Nov. 8-9 and Nov. 15-16. There will be collection containers in back of the church on those days. Thank you for your generosity!

Our Journey to Bethlehem Begins Soon!  We are beginning this year with a Spaghetti Dinner to help raise funds for the dinners on the nights of production.  On Saturday, Nov. 8 at 6:15 We will begin serving Italian bread, salad, spaghetti with meat sauce and dessert...all for only $7.00.  There will be a short program and your chance to sign up to participate in the Nativity Diorama.  The dates this year are Dec. 11, 12 and 13. We are asking that you also join the Shoe-In for Homeless Men and bring a pair of men’s athletic shoes (size 10 and up) along with you.  Tickets will be on sale this weekend! Special Thank You to Thrivent for helping to sponsor this event by providing funds to cover costs.  This sponsorship is possible because of Care in Congregations activities and funding.

Advance Sales Concert Tickets will be on sale this weekend.  For a donation of $40, you can have one of the best seats in the house at each of three concerts: The King’s Brass, Ken Medema, and Bethune Cookman University Choir. For $75, you can have TWO of the best seats!  See the insert in today’s bulletin for details, and watch your mail for more information!

Fellowship following Saturday services: We had so much fun we’re going to do it again!  If you would like to help out with Coffee Fellowship following the Saturday 5 pm service on Nov. 29th, please sign up in the Fellowship Hall.

Tis the Season for committees and meetings to once again go into high gear. If you or your committee are changing times or dates, even if just for one week, please let the office know well in advance.  In order for the correct information to be disbursed through the Discovery calendar or the weekly bulletin calendar and announcements, we need to receive the information as soon as possible.  As more activities are taking place, this becomes even more important.  Thank you for your cooperation

Planning a church event? Before you finalize your plans, please complete a Room Request (found in the wall holder behind the front reception desk). This is the only way you can be sure that the room will be available for you. Even if you’ve held similar events in the past, without this form your event will not be put on the calendar and the facility may be assigned to someone else.  Thank you for your cooperation!  The Office

November is "Become an Associate Member of Thrivent" Month!  As you know, Thrivent, a fraternal financial association for Lutherans, gives us generous grants each year for our various fund raising activities as well as almost $2000/year for "Care in Congregation" projects. We qualify for this funding only when we have sufficient numbers of Thrivent members participate in these activities. We could use more members and there is a way you can become an associate member. Complete an application and pay $10 for an annual membership! This will ensure that we have enough Thrivent members involved in activities to make us eligible for the maximum amount of funding. Membership applications are available in the Fellowship Hall. As a special incentive, Thrivent members and associate members can enter their names in a special drawing for a Concert Series ticket package - a $45 value!! Drawing to be held Sunday, Nov 29.

Correction to the Member’s Directory: John and Jaycine Lester’s telephone number should be 239-283-9638.

The Coffee Hour Host schedule through December is posted above the tables in the Fellowship Hall, and in the kitchen on the bulletin board. If you would like to join this group, please contact Bob Massey (731-7982) or Frank and Barb Johnson (652-0107). For corrections to the list, please call the office (995-0133).  Here’s the schedule for the next four weeks for your reference.
